Our work in public-access buildings (ERP)

The task varies hugely from one facility to another. Here is what we handle most often.

Entrance control and flow management

Managing access, counting to keep within the ERP's regulatory capacity, managing queues at peak times, directing the public.

Preventing anti-social behaviour

A visible presence in sensitive areas, reminding people of the house rules, early intervention on disruptive behaviour. Most of the work is presence and conversation.

Backing up council staff

Front-desk staff, lifeguards or librarians are not trained in conflict management. The guard steps in as soon as things get heated, which also protects your council staff.

Opening, closing and checking the premises

Checking the building is empty before closing — changing rooms, toilets, plant rooms — locking up and securing the site.

Evacuation and fire safety

Knowledge of the evacuation plan, running drills, managing a real evacuation. SSIAP fire safety officers supplied according to the classification and category of your ERP.

One-off extra cover

Performances, competitions, ceremonies, Christmas markets, sensitive public meetings: a staffing level sized to the event, with no year-round commitment.

What we look at in a public facility

The regulatory constraints are tight, and so is the public budget. We look for the right level of provision, not the maximum.

The ERP's classification

Type and category determine your obligations, particularly for fire safety cover. We start from your safety register, not from a guess.

Mapping where tension builds

Where and when incidents actually happen: end of classes, teenage time slots, end of sessions. Even an informal track record beats a guess.

Seasonality

A swimming centre in July and the same one in February do not need the same staffing. We propose a year-round baseline plus extra cover timed to busy periods.

Swimming centre

Flow, changing rooms, summer

The issue is almost never intrusion: it is managing groups of teenagers during the holidays, theft from changing rooms and keeping within capacity. A visible presence at the entrances and patrols around the pool.

Performance hall

Ticket checks, headcounts, manning the emergency exits during the performance, managing several hundred people leaving at once.

Library or gym

Low-level anti-social behaviour

One or two guards during the time slots identified as sensitive are often enough to bring tension down for good, backed by the house rules.

Do you respond to public procurement tenders?

Yes. We provide every document required: CNAPS operating authorisation, insurance and URSSAF compliance certificates, sworn statements, and a method statement describing the staffing and the qualifications of the guards assigned.

For lower-value tenders, the simplified procedure often allows a quick turnaround: send us the specification.

Is an SSIAP fire safety officer compulsory at our premises?

It depends on the type and category of your ERP, as set out in the fire safety regulations. Some premises must have a permanent fire safety service, others do not.

Your safety register and the latest opinion of the safety commission give the answer. Send them to us: we base the proposal on your actual obligations, without over-specifying the service.

Can your guards remove a member of the public from the premises?

They can refuse entry and ask a person to leave on the basis of your house rules, which it is the authority's responsibility to enforce. They have, however, no power to restrain or detain anyone.

If someone refuses to comply, or in the event of a clear disturbance, the guard calls the local or national police and writes a detailed report.

Can we use you for a one-off event only?

Yes: a ceremony, a public meeting, a competition, a Christmas market, an opening. The quote is for that event alone, with no ongoing commitment. It is also a good way to try us out before considering a recurring service.

Do you also work in private gyms?

Yes. A fitness club is also a public-access building, but its issues are those of a private business: people dodging the turnstiles, theft from changing rooms, night-time hours with no staff on site. We have a dedicated page on this: security guard for gyms.
