Security patrols and alarm response

An alarm tells you a contact opened at 3 am. It doesn’t tell you whether that’s an intruder, a cat or a door left ajar. Our patrols and alarm verifications do what the technology can’t: check, assess, act — and let you sleep when there’s nothing to find.

Security guard seen from behind checking a warehouse gate with a torch at night, patrol vehicle parked behind him
Timestamped, random-hour patrols Two to four patrols a night at varying times, logged, with a report after each visit.
Alarm verification A guard attends on activation, checks, assesses and reports back. Most alerts are false alarms: worth knowing before you call anyone.
Site opening and closing Setting and disarming the alarm, checking the site is empty, locking up: your staff no longer have to cover these hours.
A report after every visit You know what was checked, at what time, and what was found — not just that "all is well".

01 · Duties

The mobile services we provide

A human presence timed to your vulnerable hours, without the cost of a permanent static post.

Indoor and outdoor patrols

Checking the perimeter, gates and exits, patrolling plant rooms and sensitive areas, spotting leaks, fires starting, break-ins or damage.

Alarm verification on activation

On a call from your remote monitoring centre or your on-call team: attending the site, a visual check, assessing the event, calling the police or a technician, temporarily securing the site, and a report.

Opening and closing

Unlocking in the morning and disarming the alarm, or closing up at night with a check that the site is empty, locking the access points and setting the alarm. Also useful for shops in retail parks.

Checking plant rooms

Boiler room, electrical room, cold stores, compressors: a regular check catches a technical fault before it turns into a major loss.

Technical alarm forwarding

During an annual shutdown or a long weekend, a contactable guard who knows what to do with a refrigeration, fire or intrusion alarm, and who calls the right person.

Backing up your on-call team

We fit into your existing procedure: who calls whom, in what order, with what instructions. Everything is written down before the first night.

02 · Sizing

How we build a patrol contract

The right frequency is neither the highest nor the cheapest: it’s the one that matches your exposure.

Your vulnerable hours

Nights, weekends, bank-holiday bridges, closures, tense periods. We focus patrols where the risk is real and adjust the frequency to the season and the site’s history.

The patrol route

Checkpoints defined with you — gates, exits, storage areas, plant rooms — in an order and at times that vary. Each checkpoint is timestamped.

Working with remote monitoring

Your remote monitoring centre or on-call team calls us on activation; we verify the alarm. Without remote monitoring, patrols alone cover the agreed hours.

Post orders

What to do in the event of an intrusion, a leak, a fire starting, an open door; who to call, in what order; how far to go. Written, agreed with you, given to every guard.

03 · Real-world examples

Three common situations

SME with an alarm but no one at 3 am

Alarm verification

The alarm is connected, but the owner drives out in person every time it triggers. An alarm verification contract puts a guard on site and saves him nine trips out of ten.

Multi-building site on a business park

Night patrols

Several buildings, a long perimeter, no on-site guard: three patrols a night at varying times, checking exits and plant rooms, with a report in the early morning.

Shop in a retail park

Opening and closing

Staff no longer have to open alone at 6 am or close alone at 9 pm in an empty car park. A guard covers both times, providing a deterrent presence when exposure is highest.

04 · Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions about mobile patrols & alarm response.

The questions that come up most before booking this service. If yours isn't here, ask us: reply within 24 working hours.

How many patrols a night?

Two to four, most often, at deliberately varying times, adjusting the frequency to the season, the history of incidents and what needs protecting. A patrol includes checking the points agreed with you and a timestamped report.

What is the alarm response time?

It depends on the distance between the site and the guard on duty; it is agreed in the contract and realistic within our regular coverage area. We don’t promise a response time we can’t keep: if your site is too far away, we’ll tell you.

How are patrols and alarm verifications charged?

Patrols are charged per visit, at a fixed rate for the length of the contract; alarm verifications are charged per call-out, or included in a patrol contract depending on the package. The price depends on distance and frequency, not on how long the visit takes.

Can the guard reset the alarm after a verification visit?

Yes, if you want and if the instructions allow it: resetting the system, temporarily securing an exit, making a room safe. He reports back immediately on what he has done and what still needs a technician.

Can we combine weekday patrols with a static post at weekends?

This is actually the most common arrangement on exposed sites: patrols during the week, a continuous presence over long weekends or closures. See also our manned guarding and site security page.
